London-born, LA-based artist Delilah Montagu has dropped her new single, ‘Coffee’. She utilises the tender plucking of guitar strings and her own harp-like vocal harmonies to build a surreal world of melancholic melody that sits somewhere between the likes of Joni Mitchell, Maggie Rogers and Leonard Cohen, before bursting into a fine-tuned chorus that reminds you we’re still firmly in the era of modern pop. She explains: “I wrote ‘Coffee’ about friendship — about loving someone and not needing anything from them, not asking them to change or be anything different.” Montagu is arguably best known for her appearance on Fred again..’s ‘Delilah (Pull Me Out Of This)’, but ‘Coffee’ showcases her raw talent and proves that she is certainly one to watch. -Dan Peeke
